Oakwood Bible Church
About Us
Oakwood Bible Church is a nondenominational, Bible-believing church committed to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are an affiliate of IFCA International, a fellowship of independent churches committed to the preaching and teaching of the Word of God.
Our purpose is to exalt our Lord through weekly inspirational worship services, practical Bible teaching, personal fellowship, and mutual encouragement. Our ministry reaches children, teens, college and career adults, families, and the elderly. We also maintain an active involvement in foreign missions.
How we came to be:
Oakwood Bible Church is an independent church which began as an afternoon Sunday School in 1915 in Kalamazoo’s Oakwood neighborhood located on the southwest side of town. The group eventually grew into an organized church. In 1978 the congregation moved to a newly constructed building at the church’s current location on Oakland Drive. In 2001 a new family life center was added to the building, complete with new classrooms, offices, gym, and kitchen.
