Village Life Church

An Evangelical Free Church of America church with passionate reverent worship in Indianapolis, IN

About Us

We’re a new congregation and just celebrated our first birthday! Faith Church of Indianapolis decided to broaden its influence by sending Pastor Don Beachy and several families and individuals to form a new church in the Broad Ripple neighborhood of Indianapolis. We love Broad Ripple – it’s one of Indianapolis’ most eclectic neighborhoods. With charming and historic homes, art galleries, shops, restaurants, and thriving night life, Broad Ripple is a place where diversity flourishes and honest questions and discussion thrives. We want our church to fit the Broad Ripple culture of honest engagement as we seek and discuss difficult spiritual realities. And yet, we’re distinct in that, while embracing the journey toward faith, we believe that the quest is not endless, and that God's Word holds real and definitive answers.

Our Services

Service Times

Sunday
05:00pm
We are an evening church. Our main worship gathering begins at 5:00 pm every Sunday afternoon. We're excited that this time slot gives us all a few extra moments to enjoy a restful Sunday morning.

What to Expect

What are services like?
What is the music like? The music is upbeat and exciting. (We have some amazing rockin' musicians leading us.) But, we also have times of silence and contemplation, where you can set aside the distractions around you an truly re-focus. What should I wear? God looks at our hearts, so it really doesn't matter what you wear. Most of us are totally casual, although you might also see some a little more dressed up. Will there be a place for kids? Yes! We value children as members of our community and welcome kids 3-12 to the first part of our gatherings. After that, caring adult volunteers present biblical truth to them in age-appropriate classes. Nursery care (ages 0-36 months) is available throughout the gathering.

What is the community like?
You may have noticed that Village Life Church isn’t an event on Sunday or a building. (Hey, we don’t even own one!) It’s all about a community of people. We're people joining together to ask the questions – and finding the answers – to issues of meaning and purpose. We invite you to join us on the journey! Unlike some journeys, this one can hardly be described as linear. We hope our worship gatherings really encourage you, make you think, and challenge your assumptions about God and life. However, we believe the real business of learning, growing, and loving happens in the context of friendship. That’s why we encourage everyone to participate in a Life Group. What’s a Life Group? A Life Group is a home-based community of about a dozen people who meet weekly to discuss and study the Bible, based on the content of the Sunday sermon. A trained leader facilitates discussion that helps solidify the content, gives a forum to ask questions, and, in the process, builds a community of people who care about one another. By studying, praying, and sharing together, real spiritual transformation occurs.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We welcome spiritual seekers! Some are just beginning on this journey and are still checking out the claims of Jesus, the Bible, and people who follow Him. We welcome honest questions, doubts and fears. We want to be a safe place to explore what true Christianity looks like. For those who are committed to Christ, "Explore" may take on a new look. What area of your life is God calling you to dig deeper?

Leadership

Don Beachy

Starting Village Life Church in Broad Ripple is a dream come true for Don, who spent 12 years in pastoral ministry at Faith Church. Don is excited to use his gifts of leadership and preaching (and playing electric guitar) in a more regular capacity. Don holds degrees from the University of Cincinnati (B.A. 1989 and M.A. 1990) and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (M.Div. 1999). He likes a good book, a good band, and good times home with his wife, Joanne, and their three sons.
