What are services like?
We are a liturgical church within the ELCA and offer a traditional Lutheran liturgy. We print the entire service within the service bulletin allowing for an ease of use during worship. We generally use the ELW (Evangelical Lutheran Worship) for worship liturgy and for hymn singing but we also use contemporary music as well. Our Joyful Noise Choir sings from September to May and many other talented parishioners take part in the music ministry of the church. We offer the sacrament of Holy Communion at all worships service both Saturday evening and Sunday morning. What is the community like?
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is located in Highland, Indiana. Many consider the northwest corner of Indiana to be one large suburb of Chicago - and rightly so as Highland is about 30 minutes from downtown Chicago. Highland and its neighboring communities are blue collar towns with a strong focus on faith and community. Highland has an active Town Council with many community events. The School Town of Highland is an "A" school district and the High School is a Four-Star School in the State of Indiana.
