About Us

God's Work. Our Hands.

Come to Faith and experience a church made up of warm and caring people led by the Holy Spirit to proclaim the good news of Christ’s redeeming love for all.

What do we do? We pray together. We sing together. We eat and drink together. We work together to improve our church and our community. We find joy in our worship and in each others’ company. And we love to make new friends like YOU!

What do we believe? We believe that God created and loves all of creation -- the earth and the seas and all of the world’s inhabitants. We believe that God's Son, Jesus Christ, transforms lives through his death on the cross and his new life, and we trust that God's Spirit is active in the world.

How can you find out more? We’d love to see you at any of our services or events (see the upcoming events calendar). We’ll gladly show you around and answer your questions. Our building is accessible to wheelchair users. We're on the B bus line, and near the 91 bus line.

What to Expect

What are services like?
While our “Traditions” + “Windows” worship services each have a different look and feel, we weave both ancient and modern liturgy and music so you will experience familiar patterns, prayers and music here at Faith regardless of where you have worshipped before. We invite you to worship with us and try to welcome guests in a warm and non-intrusive way; in fact we've been expecting you! Windows to Faith Sunday at 8:30 am Drawing on our contemporary and complex post-modern world, this worship experience sheds God’s light and love on our faith journey. Our cross-generational Praise Ensemble leads us in singing about God’s love and promises. Together we confess our brokenness, listen to ...God’s story through the Bible, listen for our stories through reflections on God’s story, share Communion at God’s table, and we leave reflecting God’s love through the windows of our lives. Traditions Worship Sunday at 10:30 am Drawing on our ancient Christian heritage, this liturgy (or work of the people) follows the traditional Lutheran worship service of Word and Sacrament and speaks with appropriate relevance for today. Chorale and hand bell choirs, solo musicians, and a variety of hymns accompanied by our pipe organ and piano lead the assembly in song. We follow settings from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) book, accompanied by scripture, children’s message, sermon, with the Eucharist shared each week. Holy Communion is shared at both services, and all are welcome at The Lord’s Table.

What is the community like?
Who are we? We reflect our local community and are increasingly diverse: mostly Euro-American, with growing numbers of Asian, African-American and Latino members. We also come from all walks of life: young working families with kids (we love kids!), retirees, singles, teens…you name it.

What if I'm not a Christian?
All are welcome here in God’s House on Silver Lane! We are a place where we love questions because we know nobody has it all figured out because we're all saints and sinners We are a place where we don’t care if you’re a seeker or doubter, spiritual but not religious or a believer, or don’t even know where to start. We are also committed to supporting those who are addicted to alcohol, food or narcotics and host six twelve-step groups each week. We are a place where we don’t care if Christian, if you’re more Lutheran than Martin, or haven’t been in church since little Susie’s Baptism or Christmas 2003.
