Bernadotte Lutheran Church

About Us

Faithfully feeding bellies and souls with God's abundance.

Bernadotte Lutheran Church is one of three ELCA congregations that formed the Fields of Grace Lutheran Parish in the mid-80's. Known as the "cathedral on the prairie," the 150+ year building sits as a testament to the faith and perseverance of the Swedish immigrants who settled in this part of southwestern MN. The church building is surrounded by farm fields lovingly and skillfully stewarded by farmer-members whose products contribute to the feeding of the world. Similarly, the people of Bernadotte see their mission as feeding the souls of hungry people with the life-giving nourishment of God's love and grace.

I love that this special church was built by Fredrick Webster, a maternal relative. My grandmother, Anna Webster Lindquist, raised her large family on a farm several miles from this church. I also love this church because my father, Robert John Lindquist, plus other relatives are buried in the cemetery.
