What to Expect

What are services like?
We hold to the ancient pattern of Gathering - Word - Meal - Sending for most of our services. Pastors proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ through sermons. Holy Communion is offered at each service. A variety of musical styles are incorporated in worship. Special music is offered by our various choirs, handbells, brass, and praise band.

What is the community like?
We are a friendly group of people who feel called to love God by loving others. Our cross-generational community welcomes all who come to our worship and other ministries.

What if I'm not a Christian?
All are welcome at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church. We will graciously extend hospitality to all who come. Bring your questions, doubts, certainties, and joys with you!

Chris Olkiewicz

Chris Olkiewicz

Pastor Chris Olkiewicz has served as Lead Pastor since December of 2010 after serving congregations in Ames and Des Moines. He is a 1987 graduate of Augustana College (SD) and received his M.Div. from Luther Seminary in 1995. He has been greatly influenced by the Lutheran theologian Joseph Sittler, having literally worn out more than one copy of Sittler’s Gravity and Grace. In addition to parish ministry, Pastor Chris has an interest in ecumenism and the dialogue between science and religion.
