Leadership
Tom Severson
Tom has been Senior Pastor at Vineyard Church of Elgin since 1995. An Elgin resident since he was a teenager, he graduated from Judson College in 1981. Tom and his wife, Jill, have been married over 27 years and have seven children and five grandchildren. Tom's heart beats for Jesus to be glorified in all circumstances. In 2001, he survived a stabbing from a homeless man he was ministering to, and God used this attack to change our pastor and our church radically. Who Holds the Knife, written by Tom and his son Lane, tells what happened from each of their points of view and describes how God turned this evil into good in their family’s lives. Echoes of God's grace, forgiveness and mercy resound in their story, inspiring hope and trust for even the darkest of times.Location & Directions
