Village Baptist Church

It takes a Village...Let us be yours.

Sun 9:00am + Baptist (CBF) Newcomers welcome Bowie, MD

About Us

If someone invited you to Village, here's what they'd probably say: "It's not what you'd expect, but it's exactly what you've been looking for."

We're a multiracial, multicultural Baptist congregation meeting at 1950 Mitchellville Road in Bowie, Maryland, and we believe the church is most faithful when it reflects the full diversity of the community it serves. Every Sunday at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m., people from all different backgrounds, generations, and walks of life come together around honest preaching, soulful worship, and the conviction that faith is big enough to hold our real questions.

At Village, you won't find a one-size-fits-all faith. You'll find sermons that wrestle honestly with Scripture and the world we actually live in, engaging race, justice, doubt, and hope without flinching. You'll find children's ministry, community service, and a congregation that genuinely wants to know your name.

Whether you've been in church your whole life or you're just starting to explore, whether you're a longtime Bowie resident or new to the area, there's a place for you here.

Come as you are. We'll save you a seat.

Our Services

Service Times

Sunday
11:00am
A more traditional, structured service. You'll find a choir, hymns, organ, piano, and newer selections from classic Christian contemporary music. Communion is served the first Sunday of the month, and every Sunday includes an incisive and inspiring sermon.
09:00am
A more contemporary, relaxed service. Called "Come and See," this worship experience is invitational, reflective, and rooted in sermon and song.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Expect to feel something and think something, too. Our Sunday services blend praise and worship music (both contemporary and traditional) with preaching that takes the Bible and the world seriously. You won't get hollow inspiration or religious performance. You'll get honest, narrative-driven messages that wrestle with real life—faith and doubt, justice and hope, the ancient text and the headlines of the week. The 9:00 AM service lasts 45 minutes, and the 11:00 AM service typically runs about an hour. Come ready to worship, ready to think, and ready to be surprised.

What is the community like?
Village is exactly what it sounds like: a village. We're multigenerational, multiracial, and multicultural, which means on any given Sunday you'll sit near someone who doesn't look like you, vote like you, or come from where you come from. Somehow, that's the whole point. We're a congregation that shows up for each other through community service, shared meals, honest conversation, and a genuine commitment to being one family across every kind of difference. If you're looking for a place where belonging isn't conditional, this is it.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Then you're still welcome. Village is a place where questions are honored, doubts are respected, and nobody expects you to have it all figured out before you walk through the door. We don't do pressure, and we don't do performance. We do community, honesty, and a faith that's big enough to hold your skepticism alongside it. Come exactly as you are. You might find something here worth staying for; but even if you're just looking, you'll be treated like you belong.
