About Us

"GOD'S WORK, OUR HANDS"

Whether you’ve never been to church before or you’re a Sunday regular, you’ll fit right in. We are a diverse, ELCA Lutheran community and welcome people of all sexual orientations and gender. Here is a place where you can honestly explore faith and still be yourself.

For over 160 years, we have been serving the needs of our community through worship, education, feeding the hungry, clothing the needy, music ministry, dedication to children and so much more.

Trinity Lutheran is located in the heart of the historic Mud Lane Historic District of Stapelton Heights. You can’t miss this Gothic gem. We are a short walk (or bus ride) from the S.I. Ferry, URBY Staten Island and located at the intersection of Beach, St Paul’s and Cebra Ave. We have a parking lot and on street parking is also available.

What to Expect

What are services like?
We follow the traditional ELCA liturgy and our services are filled with beautiful organ music from our Cassavant organ. Music has always played an important role here at Trinity. Our Senior Choir is comprised of music professionals who have sung with the Metropolitan Opera Company, Richmond County Choral Society and the Wagner College Choir as well as folks who just love to sing. Many of our members also teach at Wagner College and other neighborhood schools

What is the community like?
We are a community of young and old, straight, gay, hipsters, hippies, those in recovery, (or not), musicians, teachers, artists, moms, dads, kids, teens and elders. We are warm, quiet, noisy, and boisterous but most importantly we listen to the words of our Lord and Savior and try to follow His path. We have a wonderful Feeding Ministry, one of the largest on the Island that feeds folks every Saturday, rain, shine or blizzard and always need volunteers!

What if I'm not a Christian?
The faith of the Lutheran Church is grounded in Holy Scripture which together with the creeds and the confessions of the church, provides a stable faith in often chaotic and troubling times. We are a sacramental church stressing Baptism and the Lord’s Supper as the means of God’s grace and gift of the Holy Spirit. All who are baptized are welcomed to receive Holy Communion. Those who seek to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, but not yet baptized are welcomed at the table for a blessing.
