About Us

A sanctuary is a place where one goes to be in the presence of God. It is a place of peace, refuge, and safety. It is a place of freedom and liberty. It is a place where the broken find healing and restoration. At The Sanctuary of Saginaw, we strive to facilitate an environment that lives up to our name.

As a group, our primary goal is to lift up the Name of Jesus while encouraging and supporting each other to follow Him to the fullest ability in our lives. We want to minister to lost and hurting people with the love and power of Jesus Christ.

All are welcome to worship with us. We strive to create an environment of Truth, apart from judgment and condemnation.

We have our weekly worship service on Saturday evening at 6pm. We look forward to worshiping with you!

What to Expect

What are services like?
When you walk through the doors, you should expect to be greeted with a warm smile and a friendly handshake. If you have any questions at all, please ask anyone you see and they will be glad to help. At The Sanctuary, the service is all about lifting up the Name of Jesus and having God meet your needs as you worship Him. Your needs and your life are important to God. We want you to be touched by God through your worship of Him, our prayer for one another, and the truth that is heard in the preaching of the Word. While we are organized for our services, we believe that the best way for God to have an effect on your life is to allow Him freedom to do as He pleases. As a result, our services strive for simplicity. We desire to have nothing interfere with the move of God, always believing that what He is doing is more important than what we had planned.

What is the community like?
We are a small, loving group of believers that care about each others needs and lives.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We desire to introduce you to Jesus Christ and be living, breathing examples of His great Love for you to see. It's difficult to make a decision about anything in life when you don't know the whole story. Your decision whether or not to follow Jesus is no different. We desire to make that decision easy for you by giving you the whole story. When you see what Jesus has done for you and you feel the indescribable touch of God on your life, we're confident that you'll see why we're all so in love with Him. We know that you'll want a relationship with Him as well. We so much desire to get to know you, to help you through life, and to show you how God can take all of your heartache and give you joy, take all of your storms and give you peace. We welcome you to worship with us and come meet Jesus. You don't need to be perfect, because God specializes in the broken. At The Sanctuary, we are a home for the hurting. Steven Niswonger

Pastor Steve has a passion for sharing the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ and helping God's children grow into maturity in Him. Pastor Steve was filled with the Holy Ghost at the age of 11. A prodigal son of sorts during his teen and early adult years, Pastor Steve provided God plenty of opportunity to show forth His great mercy and forgiveness. As a young man in college, he began to feel the call of God on his life. It became clear that God had a greater plan for him than he could see at that moment. In March 2001, the call to serve in ministry became irresistible and changed the course of his life forever. An avid seeker of Biblical Truth, God has transformed Pastor Steve into an effective and challenging Bible teacher. Never satisfied with leaving people in mediocrity, Pastor Steve seeks to pull the congregation into spiritual excellence in Jesus Christ. He is both relaxed and intense in an honest presentation of the great Truth found in Scripture. He believes that this Truth is not only for your life as a whole, but that is applicable in very practical ways in your day-to-day living. Pastor Steve's greatest concern for you is that you understand what God is speaking to you in His Word. He is always open to questions and enjoys taking the time to help you as an individual discover a deeper understanding. In July 2005, Pastor Steve and Jenesa were married. Jenesa is a loving, caring, and anointed woman of God. Together, they have three children: Caleb, Nathan, and Maicie. Having lived in the Saginaw valley area for most of their lives, Pastor Steve and Jenesa are committed to seeing this community thrive in the spiritual riches offered through Jesus Christ.
