The City Church

About Us

A family of disciples on mission for the glory of God & the good of our cities

The City Church isn’t a Sunday event; it’s not a building you come to. It’s a people; a group of normal, everyday, messy folks who Jesus is redeeming, and in whom he has put a deep passion to see that same redemption carried out in Fort Worth. We’re a growing family, who lives life together in neighborhoods, condos, dorms, coffee shops, and pubs across our city, seeking the welfare of the city where God has sent us as we live out our place in God’s story. We are a family of disciples on mission, for the glory of God and the good of Fort Worth. We strive to be a family, where you can experience the love of God, ask questions, and find your place in God’s story.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Casual, come-as-you-are. We celebrate God through songs & readings. We celebrate God's word thorough preaching the gospel. We celebrate Jesus' finished work through communion. We celebrate God's continued work in our lives through sharing stories. The last Sunday of each month we scatter for worship, to Sabbath, serve our city, & love our neighbors. Essentially, we worship God by putting our faith into practice in biblical, but less-common ways.

What is the community like?
Everything we do is based on proximity: the most common image of the church in the Bible is one of "family." You can't live as the family of God alone; nor can you with a few hundred people. The heartbeat of our church is "Villages" - multigenerational communities doing life & mission together in your part of town. Villages pursue Jesus together, living as disciples of God, members of God's family, & missionaries to God's world.

What if I'm not a Christian?
If you're not a Christian, thank you for the boldness of even looking for a church. We know you likely expect to feel feel judged, hurt, angry, or embarrassed when you think of "church" You won't be alone! We're a messy community, & we believe that God is in process of redeeming each of us. You're free to ask questions, get a feel for what "this Jesus thing" is all about. We don't shy away from God, Jesus, his Bible, and his truth, but everyone in our church family was once in your shoes, so we know that if you're looking at any church, you need time, space, answers, & dialog.
