We offer both a very traditional Lutheran worship and a contemporary praise service.

What is the community like?
The church is located in an older changing neighborhood of Tucson with a great mix of different people and traditions.

What if I'm not a Christian?
You will find Streams to be a very friendly worshiping family that goes out of its way to make newcomers feel welcome and at home.

Tom Dunham

Tom Dunham

Pastor Tom Dunham graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1975 and from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN in 1979 and has served six other parishes before coming to Streams in the Desert. • Lutheran Memorial Church, Pierre, South Dakota 1981-1984 • First Lutheran Church, Philip, South Dakota 1984-1992 • Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tea, South Dakota 1992-1995 • Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Chester, Montana 1995-2002 • Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Lake Havasu City, Arizona 2002-2005 • Streams in the Desert Lutheran Church, Tucson, Arizona 2006-present Pastor Tom is married and has three children; Lindsey, 31, Logan, 29, and Gavin, 26. Pastor Tom’s wife, Sharon, is an award-winning journalist, photographer and editor. Pastor Tom attended Cursillo #93 in Phoenix. He has served as a Spiritual Director for many Via de Cristo weekends and is the Spiritual Director on the Secretariat of Southern Arizona Lutheran Via de Cristo. Pastor Tom is on the Steering Committee of Tucson Multi-Faith Alliance. He was on the planning committee for Tucson’s 9/11 10th anniversary remembrance and the planning committee for the first anniversary of the January 8 shootings in Tucson. He serves on the governing board of Southern Arizona Lutheran Camping Association. He also serves on the Synod Administration Team for San Juan Bautista Lutheran Church. He represents the Grand Canyon Synod of the ELCA on the Arizona Ecumenical Council. He is a grateful recovering alcoholic with 17 years of sobriety.
