About Us

Come as you are. Go as Jesus says.

Welcome to Stone's Throw Church. We desire to glorify God because of his mission to restore us through the work of Jesus Christ. This shapes who we are, what we do, and how we do it. We hope you'll find out more about us on these pages and then join us in person and consider becoming part of our church as we learn, grow, and serve together.

The Gospel
It is all about Jesus. The chief purpose of humanity and creation is to glorify God. We are God-centered and His glory is ultimate. The transformation of an individual is an event and a process. The event is the time at which a person becomes a believer in Christ and places their faith in the work of Jesus' death on the cross and resurrection. The process is the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer as they grow in grace and truth. Our goal is not transformation by any means but by the gospel. People's behavior can be changed by a multitude of things, but we desire to see change as a result of the gospel's work in a person's life. This change alone results in a right standing with God. The gospel, simply put, is this: Out of love, Jesus Christ died for all of our sins and was victoriously raised to life three days later to restore our relationship to God and give us eternal life.
The Church
The mission of the church as a whole is to glorify God by making disciples through the gospel. We as the church, have been made a people of God's own choosing for his purpose of redemption to be agents of reconciliation to a lost and broken world through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our Mission
Our mission at Stone's Throw Church is to reach unchurched and dechurched people, tell them about Jesus, and mobilize them to change the world for Christ as disciples. We seek to do this through gospel-centric worship and gospel-centric community.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Our service begins at 10:30am. Our preaching is gospel-centered every week and we go through various sermon series that range from the Gospels, books of the Old Testament, and topical issues (e.g. marriage, common religious questions, etc). We respond to the Word as a body by worshipping with modern, energetic music with many new arrangements of old hymns. We have children's programs for infants through 3rd grade during our gathering. They play games, take part in crafts, have a teaching lesson, sing and more. The older kids join us in the auditorium for worship each week. Stop by the check-in table to sign your kids in for the day and meet our children's ministry team.

What is the community like?
Every week, small groups in the Middletown and surrounding areas called Community Groups meet together for fellowship, care, accountability, and study. These small pockets of community are the primary means of discipleship for us and are an essential part of our mission. These groups aren't about people who have it all together. If you're new this is exactly the place to belong, ask questions, and wrestle with your faith while you eat, pray, laugh, learn, struggle, and serve together as we are transformed by the grace of God.

What if I'm not a Christian?
You should come. Check out what we believe about Jesus. Doesn't matter what your background is or where you think your standing is with God. Lots of people have come to Stone's Throw not knowing who Jesus is only to return home as a follower of Jesus Christ. We would love to meet you.
