Our Services

What are services like?
Traditional Episcopal services, abundant music. Friendly atmosphere.

What is the community like?
Small. Our service averages 40. Older, many middle age and retired people. We are big on hospitality both ministering to ourselves and to the community. We have active mens' and womens' groups along with a jail ministry. Our church is generous in giving funds toward outreach. Last year we partnered with a Moravian Church for clothes distribution and then to help with Hurricane Sandy relive.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Everyone is welcome

Catherine Hicks

The Reverend Catherine Hicks, Priest-in-Charge at St Peter’s earned her Master of Divinity degree from Virginia Theological Seminary. She graduated cum laude in May, 2010, and was ordained to the transitional diaconate in the Diocese of Virginia in June, 2010 and then as a Priest in December, 2010. Catherine describes herself as a committed Christian, who brings to parish ministry her gifts and real life experiences in education, marriage, motherhood, discipleship, teaching, writing, pastoral care, organization-building and professional social work. Her daily spiritual disciplines include contemplative and intercessory prayer and reading the Daily Office and walking the labyrinth when possible. She enjoys experimenting with many different types of prayer. She receives spiritual direction and is committed to the discipline of a retreat for refreshment and renewal each year. Catherine is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2001 with an MSW (Master’s degree in social work), and earned a Certificate in Aging Studies that same year from the Medical College of Virginia. Catherine completed her training to become a spiritual director, the Certificate in Spiritual Direction Studies from Washington Theological Union in Washington, DC in 2011.
