What to Expect

What are services like?
One hour traditional liturgy: Sung liturgy, mostly traditional hymns, scripture readings, prayers, sermon, creeds. Holy Communion is celebrated on 1st and 3rd Sundays and on Festivals.

What is the community like?
Multi-generational. Many of the congregation are senior citizens, but we also have many younger families with children ranging from birth through all school ages. The community is very family oriented and the congregation seeks to function in such a way as well. We are very interested in mutual support of one another and those in our surrounding community.

What if I'm not a Christian?
You are welcome to be among us. We have Sunday School opportunities for all ages (children and adults) as well as an occasional pastor's class for adults that would teach the basics of Christianity and Lutheranism. Holy Baptism is celebrated as the sacrament through which one is welcomed as a Christian into the Lord's family.

Leadership

Rev. Nathan Hooks, STS
Pastor

I grew up in a Lutheran Church singing in choirs and intoning the liturgy each Sunday. I'm passionate about worship and music. I plan worship services that seek to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Sacred Music at Lenoir-Rhyne University and my Master of Divinity at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. I was ordained in March of 2006 and have served this congregation ever since. My wife and I have been married since 2003 and have one son.

What Members Say

Mutekanga Bisoboka Armstrong shared their experience Apr 2023

it's a good family church of Christ with Hearts and minds set to future glory. I love visiting it myself and have a fellowship with members of the church.

James Thomas shared their experience Oct 2022

This church is a small caring group of people. Growing up I attended this church and was happy to be a part of the group. Later in life after I moved away I was surprised the church continued to be supportive of myself and my brother. I still contribute to this church and would urge you to give it a try.

Joseph Dorsch shared their experience Jun 2018

This church is most welcoming; from the Pastor and his wonderful family to the regular congregants. If I lived in the area I would certainly become a member of this loving community.
