St John Lutheran Church

About Us

We preach Christ crucified...and risen!

St. John's is a small congregation in the city of Renville, a small town in rural southwest MN. We have an active and involved group of believers in Renville.
We conduct a number of Bible classes in a variety of settings, from a local assisted living center to a coffee shop to our fellowship hall here at church. Check out our calendar to see where you might catch one of our Bible studies!

There are a number of ways that people opt to serve at St. John's, in our worship service, in Choir, around the building and grounds, in leadership roles, in service roles, and the list goes on.

We are compelled to serve by the love of Christ. This service isn't an obligation; it's a privilege and a joy. it's a faith-born response to the free gift of we have received from God.

That gift is grace, the undeserved love of God that announces that our sins are forgiven because Jesus Christ lived and died as our substitute. His perfect life covers the guilt of our sins. His innocent death paid the price of our redemption before a just God. We have received this grace by faith in Jesus Christ, the son of God, who is the only way to heaven and eternal life.

We hope after reading this, you will be moved to find out more about us and perhaps join us over some coffee and an open Bible. Check out our web site to find out more about our congregation!

Our Services

What to Expect

What are services like?
Our services are about an hour in length and consist of traditional liturgy and hymns. Services are easy to follow on a large screen in the front of the Church. You are never lost!

What is the community like?
Our members are friendly and want you to feel welcome when you visit us! The Usher's on duty will be glad to help you in any way. Don't be surprised if you are greeted and invited into a conversation before or after the service. Our members are just glad to meet you.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Since our service is designed for Christians, you may hear some things that don't square with the worldview of a non-Christian. You can understand that, right? Rest assured though, that we are still happy to have you as a visitor! If you are curious about our faith and belfiefs, we encourage you to ask questions!
