Who We Are

St. David's is a traditional and welcoming Episcopal congregation. Our members come from all over the country, and many are retired or semi-retired. St. David's is well-known in the community for its Jubilee Center (food pantry, cloths closet, backpack, and cold night shelter ministries) and Thrift Store. Plus we provide numerous monthly opportunities to gather in community for meals and fun, including our "Dinner & A Movie" nights on the second Monday of each month. And if you want to learn more about the Bible, the Episcopal tradition, or how to stay connected with God, St. David’s offers a number of classes and study groups that meet regularly.

James J. "Jim" Popham

Jim became our priest-in-charge on June 1 1, 2013. Before joining us, he spent three years as interim priest-in-charge at Holy Nativity Anglican Church in Calgary, Alberta., and three years at Christ Church in Calgary, first as a minister of congregational growth and development, and after ordination in November, 2008, as assistant curate. He is especially excited to bring his knowledge and experience in congregational growth and development to St. David’s. Jim was born in New Orleans and spent his prior professional life as a lawyer there and in Washington, D.C. Jim is married to the Rev. Jo Popham, who serves as priest-in-charge at St. Nathaniel’s in North Port, Florida. Before entering seminary together in 2002, Jim and Jo handled copyright royalty litigation for the Motion Picture Association of America and conducted a retreat ministry at their home on Cherry Island on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Together they have five children and three grandchildren. Jim is a committed Episcopalian and knows the Gospel is, indeed, the good news of God’s reconciliation with humanity and creation. And, for Jim, the Anglican way, rooted in scripture, expressed in tradition, and nurtured by reason, offers a ready path for spiritual growth and, moreover, to bringing God’s kingdom alive among us.
