Shep Of The Valley Luth Church

About Us

Our Mission: Reach! Teach! Care! Share!

A member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, we gladly embrace brothers and sisters of all backgrounds and denominations. We began as outreach to the military, so we have a special place in our hearts for those that serve at Camp Pendleton.

Our worship is reverent yet informal and friendly, with both traditional/liturgical as well as contemporary elements. All is very "user friendly" printed out word-for-word in the worship folder and on the screen.

Sunday Bible studies and "Great News Club" (Sunday School) are at 9:00, worship at 10:00. A variety of other ministries continue during the week. Be sure to check out our website for our activities!

Our Services

What to Expect

What are services like?
Worship is somewhat structured and Lutheran in heritage. Liturgical in structure although most in done via responsive reading rather than sung. Some songs are traditional Lutheran hymns or American favorites, some are classic contemporary. There is a special message for the children. Everything is printed out, word for word, in the worship folder and on the screen so it's very easy to follow. There is no "dress code" and you'll find everything from suits to shorts - whatever works for you. Holy Communion is usually offered. If you desire to participate, It's best if you can speak with the pastor (or email him) about this before the service just so you know our beliefs and practices about that.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Non-Christians are WELCOME! Many of us here are "converts" to Christianity, including the pastor.
