About Us

It's not religion, It's JESUS!

church@calvaryhill is beginning in seed form in North County San Diego. We will be meeting @ our home in Carlsbad (3517 Somerset Way, Carlsbad - see map – you can park on Bridgeport and Chatham) beginning Wednesday, January 9th @ 7:00 pm. Come and see: ask questions; share what’s on your mind. It will be a time to wrestle with the truths of God’s Word, get to know one-another, reach out to our city, and participate in the mission of church@calvaryhill San Diego. We will have a Bible (written in today’s language) for everyone to have.

Jesus says to us all: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matt 11:28-29).

The Good News offers what we are searching for: forgiveness, freedom, security, purpose, love, acceptance, and strength. It settles our past, assures our future, and gives meaning to today. God can meet our emotional and relation needs: love, acceptance, forgiveness, meaning, self-expression, and a purpose for living; freedom from fear, guilt, worry, resentment, discouragement, and loneliness. He gives us hope, help, and encouragement.

We will look to find answers to the questions we all have: Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going? Does life make sense? Why is there suffering and evil in the world? What is my purpose in life? How can I learn to get along with people? We all need to know what God is really like; understand the purpose of life; why and how to forgive others; how to deal with suffering, grief, and pain; and to find help in strengthening our marriages and families.

Beginning in Matthew 5, Jesus talks to us about building a Rock-solid Foundation. It is filled with Practical Lessons for Life, and begins with Eight Principles of Genuine Happiness!

Here is an utterly new approach to living, one that results in joy instead of despair, peace instead of conflict. It is a happiness not produced by the world or by circumstances, so it cannot be taken away by the world or by circumstances. Who knows more about a product than the manufacturer? When you buy a new power tool or appliance the first sensible thing to do is read the owner’s manual (yes, you too men). The manufacturer prints those manuals to explain what the item is designed to do and not do, how it is to be cared for, what its limitations are, and so on. God has made every human being, yet few turn to their Maker to find meaning, purpose, and fulfillment in their lives, to learn how we are to live and how we are to take care of ourselves, how we can function properly as we were designed to do. The first and greatest sermon preached by Jesus begins with the resounding and repeated theme of happiness, a fitting start for the New Testament’s “good news.”

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24-25).
