Founded
The Shady Grove independent church was founded in Winnsboro South Carolina on Carmack Hill, in 1823 by Nine Negro, slave men. They worshiped for nearly 90 years before joining the African Methodist Episcopal church system. After serving for 97 years they unanimously agreed to seceded from the A. M. E. Church system and in 2009 the name was changed to its current title the Shady Grove independent church.

We are a traditional church with a progressive tone. We enjoy singing the hymns and traditional Gospel music.

Our church and worship service warmly welcome anyone and everyone from all walks of life. We welcome all anyone to worship with us. We adhere to guidelines that makes the worship experience enjoyable, informative, and acceptable for all people.
