What to Expect

What are services like?
Orthodox worship is liturgical and involves chant, hymns, incense, readings from the Bible, and prayer. The services are beautiful, as the church is filled with icons and the clergy wear colored vestments that reflect the season of the liturgical year. The main service of worship is the Divine Liturgy at 10 am on Sundays. Vespers, an evening prayer service, occurs at 5:30 pm on Saturdays and provides an especially good introduction to Orthodox worship.

What is the community like?
We are an intergenerational family of people who love God and one another. The community includes lots of native Texans and a few folks originally from countries such as Greece, Romania, Denmark, Egypt, and Hungary. Our members include a firefighter, a deputy sheriff, teachers, retirees, health care professionals, children, teenagers, and fans of the Dallas Cowboys, the Washington Redskins, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. In other words, everyone is welcome and we all get along! After the Divine Liturgy every Sunday, we have a fellowship time followed by Christian education classes for all ages.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We would be very happy to meet you! Everyone is welcome to visit our services and to learn about the Orthodox Christian Church.
