What to Expect

What are services like?
Our worship is a joyful celebration of God’s love through beautiful music, inspiring preaching and meaningful liturgy. Our Sunday morning worship services are central to all that we do as a community of faith. We offer a casual "First-Up Sunday Service" at 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel. The format is an abbreviated version of our main service with communion offered every Sunday. Our main service begins at 10:30 a.m. in the beautiful, historic sanctuary located on our second floor (accessible by elevator.) The format is traditional in style, with modern elements and creative expressions. Our service begins with the warm hospitality of passing the peace and concludes as members hold hands with one another and sing a blessing of peace. Roberts Park also offers a mid-week opportunity to slow the pace of our lives and focus upon God’s presence. The service is called “Twenty Minutes for God,” and is held at 12:10 p.m. every Wednesday in our Chapel. The service includes brief liturgy, a hymn, a homily and prayer. As its name implies, Twenty Minutes for God concludes at 12:30 p.m.

What is the community like?
We are a welcoming community of diverse ages, backgrounds, socio-economic levels, and areas of residence. We have members who drive in from the suburbs because they grew up in this church and have been members for more than fifty years. We have members who live in the city and appreciate a traditional, historic Methodist church nearby. And we have our downtown neighbors, whom we welcome in worship and serve through our Neighborhood assistance program and Soup's On meal each Sunday.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Everyone is welcome at Roberts Park!
