Please go literally anywhere else instead. I attended this church for my entire childhood. In my teens, a much older man started grooming me with the long-term goal of making me his wife, despite my repeated refusal. While this was openly going on, leadership of this church put him in the role of a youth group chaperone, ensuring that he would have ample opportunity to pressure me without other adults around. Because of this, he successfully coerced me into a relationship during a youth group trip. They enabled his abuse. Oh, and they kicked out all the Black kids. Because having a dead silent communion time is more important to them than “let the little children come to me.” And they let a member starve to death in front of their faces because they don’t think mental illness is real. I could go on. This place probably qualifies as a cult. It took me a long time to feel safe in a church again after everything these people did.
