About Us

Jazz and Justice

Plymouth is a vibrant, warm, relaxed and diverse community of faith. We gather to nurture, share and celebrate the wonder of life. We are spiritual seekers who find joy in community, meaning in living faith-filled lives, purpose in seeking to promote justice and compassion in our world, direction in following in the way of Jesus and peace in getting to know God.

No matter who, no matter where you are on life’s journey... YOU are welcome here!

What to Expect

What are services like?
A mix of traditional and creative progressive new life... we have songs that are hymns and songs that are jazz solos, gospel and African American spirituals, folk and new songs written by members and friends. Our service includes an opening chant that centers us in the sacred: Be still and know that God is God. We have some singing and sometimes people stand and dance! There is a time of prayer with people sharing their joys and concerns. A joyful choir song and usually an amazing solo by one of our musicians or a friend of the community. There is a scripture reading and a sermon - relevant, progressive and creative. We end in a circle singing a blessing song to each other.

What is the community like?
A mix of older and younger, gay, lesbian, transgender and straight, families and singles, African American, White, Latin@, Asian American,New Immigrants those from generations ago... Diverse in theological belief and church backgrounds...

What if I'm not a Christian?
We welcome all who are seeking and some of our regular attendees would not define themselves as Christian.
