About Us

Light for the Coast

We know that visiting a new church for the first time can be a little overwhelming. That’s why at Northside we’ve intentionally built a culture that is casual and friendly, where you can truly be yourself. We offer several different ministry venues — from kids and teens to young adults and seniors — all of which are uniquely designed for connectivity, no matter who you are or where you’re from. Our worship experience happens every Sunday morning at 10:30 and usually lasts about an hour. Through contemporary music and practical messages, we present the timeless truths of the Bible in a format that’s easy to understand, even if you’ve never been to church. And if you’d like to get a taste of what that sounds like, we invite you to visit our podcast on iTunes or the "Our Messages" page on our website.

Our services are grounded in strong Bible-teaching, a blend of contemporary and traditional worship music and a relaxed, casual-dress atmosphere.

What is the community like?
We are a grace-based, family-oriented, loving and friendly community of believers.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We welcome anyone and everyone to our services regardless of your past, your faith or lack of faith. We also welcome any and all questions you may have about us, our ministry or our beliefs and we and encourage you to join us in seeking the truth about God and His role in our lives.

Leadership

Stan Givens

Stan Givens
Lead Pastor

Pastor Stan Givens attended Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Alabama, where he met his wife Annette and graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Theology. He served in various ministry roles for several years in Birmingham before taking the position of lead pastor at Northside in 2000. A native of Mobile, Stan actually attended Northside as a child under the teachings of founding Pastor David Jones for many years. He's married to Annette Hathaway Givens and together they have three children -- Joshua, Caleb and Mary -- all of who play active roles in Northside’s worship, children’s and media ministries. Pastor Stan is the Executive Director of 6.14 Ministries, as well as a board member of East European Harvest and an active supporting member of Team Jesus Ministries. When he's not at church, you can find him bowhunting, playing guitar or spending time with his family. Annette acquired her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Southeastern in 1982 where she also minored in biblical studies. She is currently a first grade teacher in the Mobile County Public School system and serves regularly with our women's ministry and nursery ministry. You can follow Pastor Stan's blog at: embracingthecross.com.
