Cody serves as an associate pastor and teacher under the leadership of Pastor Stan and also doubles as bass guitar player on Sunday mornings for the worship band and grounds crew maintenance supervisor throughout the week. He often describes himself as a "Godservant" and is passionate about theology and apologetics. Cody is married to Emily Walker and together they have two children: Salem and Herschel. Emily serves regularly and faithfully in Northside's children's ministry.
Jay received his Master of Arts in Religion for Pastoral Counseling from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in 2012 and served as a student member of both the International Society of Christian Apologetics (ISCA) and the American Association of Pastoral Counseling (AAPC). Serving previously with ministry efforts in Mississippi and Northern Virginia, Jay holds deep convictions concerning biblical education, discipleship, and worship through music. He is married to April Fields Collier and together they have three boys: Tobias, Titus, and Thaddaeus. Jay is also an avid songwriter, martial arts enthusiast, and a devoted student of biblical languages.
Josh received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in broadcast journalism from the University of South Alabama in 2010, where he also minored in classic English literature. In 2008, he spent a year at Valdosta State University in Georgia studying international media and public relations, as well as web and graphic design. Josh is a feature journalist for popular local publications like Mobile Bay magazine and is also currently writing for Faithlife's Ministry Team Magazine based out of Bellingham, Washington. At Northside, Josh is responsible for designing and managing our weekly worship and sermon media, our website, social media accounts, blogs and our podcast. He also serves as lead acoustic rhythm guitarist for our worship band on Sunday mornings. He is also the full time Communications Director for 6.14 Ministries, where he designs and maintains the official ministry website, Facebook page, Twitter account, and digital media presentations, as well all marketing and promotional materials. Josh also manages the training of local church staff and volunteers in the implementation of modern digital media into their services and and ministries in order to enhance effectiveness in communication, cultural connection, and millennial appeal. Josh writes regularly at his official blog site The Josh Givens Blog, confronting the difficult topics that arise in culture, society, and national news and boldly tackles them with a no-holds-barred approach. Josh is studying computer science at the University of South Alabama, working towards his degree in computer programming. Josh is also a videography expert serving clients through Momentum Virtual Experts. In November of 2000, Josh and his family flew to Uganda, Africa where they would spend the next three years serving as missionaries and working with a local children's orphanage. After Africa, Josh's family served in Oaxaca, Mexico with local churches, spreading the Gospel through the mountain villages and telling people about the love of Jesus. At Northside, Josh serves as Youth Leader for Ignition Student Ministries, teaching lessons on Wednesday evenings, discipling and mentoring students one-on-one and hosting various events and small group activities. He also serves as keyboardist and pianist for our worship team on Sunday mornings. In his downtime, Josh enjoys computer gameplay, bow hunting, videography, and has a passion for road-tripping with his family. Marie is our Administrative Assistant managing our church office. She has a passion for reaching people in our local community with the Gospel of Jesus through various small group venues and outreach opportunities and we have been blessed to see her accomplish this with the implementation of our highly successful Growth Groups ministry and Soul Sisters Women's ministry. She diligently coordinates various outreach events, conferences and activities throughout the year. As owner of Momentum Virtual Experts, Marie serves non-profits and small businesses as a certified Project Manager, Social Media Manager and Virtual Expert. Marie is also owner of Omnia Bella Photography where she gets to share her creativity through various photography and videography projects. In her free time, you can find Marie enjoying precious time with her amazing kids and grandkids, discipling women from the local community, and enjoying coffee with friends.
Brother Al has a strong gift of financial administration and serves as treasurer of our official board. He is also a longtime Sunday School teacher of the senior’s class. Al works as an accountant in the Mobile County public school system administrative offices. His spiritual and financial gifts are a great strength and serve as a strong foundation for our ministry.
A retired Chickasaw, Alabama police officer and U.S. Army veteran, Robert has been a dedicated member of Northside since its early “tent days" and serves faithfully as an active board member, shepherd and missions team member.
A native of "The Bayou," Kendall hails from Louisiana and has been with Northside as an elder, teacher and shepherd for a number of years. With theology degrees from Springhill College and Oklahoma Wesleyan Christian University (formerly Bartlesville Wesleyan College), Kendall is well-versed in an array of biblical subjects ranging from New Testament church history to New Testament contextual theology. His insight, knowledge and wisdom has become an indispensable part of Northside's ministry. He is married to Sarah Rogers and together they have two children. Kendall is currently teaching a Parthenon New Testament Studies Growth Group on Thursday evenings at 6:30 in the fellowship hall.
Pastor Stan Givens attended Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Alabama, where he met his wife Annette and graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Theology. He served in various ministry roles for several years in Birmingham before taking the position of lead pastor at Northside in 2000. A native of Mobile, Stan actually attended Northside as a child under the teachings of founding Pastor David Jones for many years. He's married to Annette Hathaway Givens and together they have three children -- Joshua, Caleb and Mary -- all of who play active roles in Northside’s worship, children’s and media ministries. Pastor Stan is the Executive Director of 6.14 Ministries, as well as a board member of East European Harvest and an active supporting member of Team Jesus Ministries. When he's not at church, you can find him bowhunting, playing guitar or spending time with his family. Annette acquired her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Southeastern in 1982 where she also minored in biblical studies. She is currently a first grade teacher in the Mobile County Public School system and serves regularly with our women's ministry and nursery ministry.
