Bishop Rodney S. Canion is the Senior Pastor and Builder of The New Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ, a daunting but rewarding $4.1 million dollar undertaking, located in the Bronx, New York. He is the fifth and youngest child of Bishop Samuel and Dr. Minnie Canion. Raised and educated in Jamaica, Queens and the Long Island, New York Areas; he embarked on a Wall Street business career which spanned some 21 years. With the last few years spent as an Operations Consultant Specialist. Bishop Canion has been the husband of one wife, Evangelist JoAnn N. Canion, for nearly 33 years. They have been blessed with four children and six grandchildren. So much of his spiritual development has been orchestrated by God—through much prayer and fasting. He is a spiritual leader with a passion for the Kingdom of God, as well as a disdain for Satan’s. As a leader he serves as administrator, innovator, preacher, teacher, and advisor. He has an evangelistic sensitivity for the lost and a love of music; as a musician, singer, and writer. Bishop Canion is godly proud to be counted among the Board of Bishops of the Church of God in Christ. He serves as an Executive Board Member and the Chairman of the Men’s Department of the First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Eastern New York at the behest of Bishop James H. Gaylord. He is also a contributing partner of the Bronx Clergy Roundtable. In all this and in all things, Bishop Canion says “to God be the glory.”
