Our Services

What are services like?
Services at Midtown are perhaps best described as "casual liturgy." We believe in our connection to the historical church and recite confessions and creeds, sing worship music grounded in scripture and our sermons come from the Bible and connect to faith and real life.

What is the community like?
Midtown is a vibrant young community of believers and seekers that live life outside of Sunday morning together. We have community groups each week, men's and women's events and studies to help people connect and grow. At the heart of our community we want to be a church that disciples people well and invites people to explore what faith is.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Welcome! Midtown Community Church is a place you can ask questions, disagree and rest when it comes to your pursuit of what faith is. We pray for you, think about you when we plan our services and are thankful to have people at Midtown who aren't Christians. Take your time. Get to know some people and join us in our community.

Lindsey Williams

Lindsey Williams is a native of Raleigh, and has always been in love with his hometown. The son of a local politician, university professor (Go Pack!), and deacon in a downtown Baptist Church, he has always had one foot in Old South spirituality and the other in New South progressivism. It was at UNC that he met his wife, Kara Whiteside from Rocky Mount. After working for IBM in the Research Triangle Park for a couple of years, he sensed a call to pastoral ministry. He moved to Charlotte, where he received his Masters of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary. After seminary, he served as an Associate Pastor at Uptown Church in Charlotte for 5 years, where he focused on outreach, mercy ministry, small groups, and pastoral care. After seeing the impact of church planting in the Charlotte area, and assisting in the oversight of 2 church plants, he became convinced that there is no better way to advance the kingdom of God than through church planting. His love for the urban context, commitment to seeing the kingdom of God expand through a local body of believers, and the unswerving belief that “there’s no place like home” have led him back to Raleigh. Lindsey & Kara have been happily married for 11 years, and have 3 children.
