About Us

HLC is a welcoming, open and affirming community of disciples in love with God and neighbor, following into the footsteps of Christ.
We are about growing together closer to God until we can live completely in the divine energy just like Jesus Christ did when he walked this earth.
We are a healing congregation, reaching out in the community, inviting people, asking about the needs in the community and becoming the healing disciples of Christ.
We will celebrate 90 years of existence in March 2013! Come and see!

What to Expect

What are services like?
Inspirational, spirit-filled, community forming! A lot of singing along with meditative parts. Diverse services, such as Taizee, praise, traditional.

What is the community like?
Intergenerational, with ages ranging from birth to late 80's. Social justice oriented community, loving and accepting of diversity of thought and belief. Inviting, conversational, searching for the deep truth that comes from God our creator, redeemer and sustainer. Following Jesus and being inspired by his life, his teaching and his faith!

What if I'm not a Christian?
We welcome agnostics, atheists and other faith traditions as long as people like to be with us as a very diverse group. WE love conversations where a safe space is created so that people can share their world view in confidence and trust. There are as many beliefs as there are people. We want to grow together in our understanding of God, but also in the mystery of God. ALL ARE WELCOME and we mean it!

Leadership

Liliana Stahlberg

I grew up in the Eastern Orthodox tradition, but felt a call to ordination early on, even as my church would not allow women to be priests. Got to know the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Romania and fell in love with the Lutheran theology that is all about God's abundant and unconditional grace, as expressed in the life of Jesus Christ. I came to the US to study theology and follow my dream for ordination! I was called and ordained at Highlands lutheran Church in 2009.
