What to Expect

What are services like?
Music includes traditional hymns, as well as contemporary praise. We use digital imagery as a part of liturgy. We celebrate the seasons of the Christian year: Advent, Lent, Easter and Pentecost. It is sometimes experiential and participatory. in great ways and in small ways. We once turned the altar area into a desert -- from Lent and into Easter!

What is the community like?
Whether it's building mission kits for flood victims, being part of a mission team to Guatemala or Estonia, giving food or other aid to a stranger, raising money for a family struck by cancer, or gathering peanut butter for the Community Food Connection, God's people in The Meadow are engaged in the missio Dei ... God's mission of love. Green Meadow and Family Promise of Blount County are united in the "missio Dei," serving homeless families in Blount County. The church serves as the Family Day Center, while dozens of other churches in Blount County serve as either host or support churches.

What if I'm not a Christian?

Buzz is a bivocational pastor in the United Methodist tradition. In other words, he has another job. A veteran journalist, Buzz is managing editor at The (Maryville, TN) Daily Times, a small-town daily newspaper. He has served Green Meadow -- a.k.a., The Meadow -- for more than 10 years.
