What to Expect

What are services like?
Our services involve leadership from people of all ages. We share at the Lord's Table first and third Sundays. Our praise team leads the music on third Sundays, and on other Sundays we enjoy hymns ranging from traditional to contemporary. We appreciate engaging sermons and silent as well as spoken prayer. We experience the still-speaking voice of God in our worship, and feel sent forth into the world to love our neighbors as ourselves wherever God leads us. You will feel welcomed in our midst.

What is the community like?
We are a growing community that spreads across all age groups, and includes those who were here at GSUCC's founding as well as many who have joined in the last 12 months. We hear again and again from people that we are a welcoming community. We are blessed by diversity of race, background, and theological and political views, although we tend toward progressive Christianity and worship more in a "white church" style. Proudly United Church of Christ, we share our building with a Koren Presbyterian (PCA) congregation and the Telegu Christian Fellowship of North Carolina (CSI). We joyfully wrestle with scripture and with historical and current events events within and across age groups. We have great cooks and like to eat together, and we are engaged together and individually in ministry in our surrounding community ranging from Dorcas Ministries (clothing and food distribution) to the Carolina Roller Girls!

What if I'm not a Christian?
You will be welcomed with open arms. We are open to diverse ideas and experiences, and hope you will join us some Sunday with all your questions, your hopes, your spiritual longings and concerns! We believe faith is a journey.
