We are very excited to be part of the Geneva Baptist family and serve our great God with you! As we begin our ministry at Geneva we want to take this opportunity to introduce you to our family. I am originally from Washington State but have lived all over the country and even in a few foreign ones. I began a career in the Air Force shortly after graduating high school and stayed until my retirement in 2006. During those twenty years I served in California, Germany, Colorado, Florida, and finally here in Georgia. It was also during that time that God introduced me to Lynette while we were both attending a Baptist conference in Interlaken, Switzerland!
Lynette comes from an Army family and spent most of her life in Fayetteville, NC but has also lived in Germany, Texas and Kansas for a brief period. She was attending North Carolina State University when we met and has been my loyal partner in service since our wedding in September of 1991.
Both of our girls, Lauryn (19 years old) and Lesley (17 years old), were born while we were stationed in Colorado Springs, CO. Lauryn, is a 2011 graduate of Houston County High School and is currently working toward a degree in Dental Hygiene. Lesley is a senior at Houston County and is planning to begin her pursuit of a career in Physical Therapy.
We want you to know we are very excited to be called to serve our Lord at Geneva Baptist Church and look forward to what He will do through and in all of us in the days, months, and years to come! My heart’s desire is to see the body of Christ grow in grace and knowledge of Jesus and become effective witnesses for the glory of His kingdom. One of my favorite passages sums up what I think our objective is as a church:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”” (Acts 1:8)
The time is short as we anxiously await the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; let us not be slow in carrying out His will.
If you need to contact me there are a variety of ways to do that:
• Through the church
• Via phone call or text on my personal number 478-714-0306
• Email [email protected]
• Facebook at profile number 1266360742.
We look forward to personally getting to know each of you as we serve together and press on toward the goal of fulfilling our heavenly call in Christ Jesus!
In His service,
Bro. John, Lynette, Lauryn, and Lesley Sheeley
