What to Expect

What is the community like?
We are a contemporary Mennonite group united through faith and fellowship. Our congregation began 40 years ago when a Mennonite Voluntary Service team was led by God to plant a church in the only Morris County neighborhood without a house of worship. As a result, we are the borough of Victory Gardens’ community church where we minister prayerfully, joyfully and expectantly.

What if I'm not a Christian?
You are more than welcome to attend and hope you that you feel important and comfortable during our services.

Leadership

Pastor Timothy Hart

Pastor Timothy J. Hart was born in Dover, NJ and grew up in Roxbury and Randolph, NJ. He attended Garden Chapel since he was 11 years old, came to Christ when he turned 12 and was baptized at the Garden Chapel at 13 years of age. This path had seen many struggles, challenges and setbacks, all of which has now contributed to building and equipping Tim’s character for the greater mission God would open up later on in his life. Pastor Tim’s position at the Christian Faith Center has also been blessed by the hands of God, as he moved on to become the Youth Director of the church, and ultimately, an fully-ordained minister. Since 2005, Pastor Tim has served as an associate pastor at Christian Faith Center. As well known by friends and family he was gifted with an abundance of energy and the ability to accomplish on a larger and wider scale. He has served in various ministries over his lifetime including Generation Holy, aimed toward firing up teens for God; Young Life, standing in the gap for underprivileged Newark youth; and PEPC (Parents Empowering Parents For Christ) in Newark, bringing spiritually-starved parents back to rich and loving guidance of the Bible. One year before becoming an ordained minister of the Christian Faith Center, The Lord blessed Pastor Tim with a wife, Maria Hart, and soon after, a daughter named Melody. They began as a family in Belleville, NJ and now live in Gillette, NJ. Maria is a NJ-certified elementary school teacher and graduated with a BS in Psychology at Ramapo College, Mahwah. She had begun serving as a teacher at Bethel Christian Academy. Here, she banded with 2 other teachers and founded PEPC (Parents Empowering Parents Through Christ), now an established non-profit company. Currently, Maria is focused on her responsibilities at home and in raising Melody. Aside from assisting Tim in his various roles, she has ventured off to a growing career as a professional freelance writer and continues to serve in the Children’s Ministry at Christian Faith Center. Maria joins with her husband in the battle against the hands of adversity in their own lives and in the lives of many young people and families who face immovable mountains. They are committed servants of Jesus Christ, who takes domain over all facets of their existence. Pastor Tim Hart is excited about the opportunity to give back to the Garden Chapel Church as their interim Pastor; never forgetting that the prayers and love that he received there as a young man is one of the reasons he is where is now in his life.
