What are services like?
As a part of the United Church of Christ and the Congregational tradition, we follow a basic order of worship that includes hymns, prayer, scripture readings, sermons, offerings, and benediction. Our service is formal in structure but informal in attitude! We set aside time to greet each other during worship and share prayer requests (both celebrations and concerns). All worshipers can celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of the month with bread and grape juice. Worship is followed by coffee, tea, snacks, and conversation in Fellowship Hall. Sometimes it's enough food for lunch! We have occasional guest speakers from our mission partners and after-church discussions on various topics.

What is the community like?
Welcome to the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Corning, NY, an Open and Affirming Congregation of the United Church of Christ. We welcome members, friends, family, and guests. We welcome believers solid in their faith and we welcome those who are questioning believers. Wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here! We are committed to creating an environment in which everyone feels welcome and safe to worship, to inquire, to celebrate, to build relationships, and to belong - and by doing so, to grow in faith and discipleship.
