What to Expect

What are services like?
East Parish UMC gathers for worship at 10:00 Sunday mornings. You can expect to feel welcome, to hear the Word of God, and to know God's presence in our beautiful historic sanctuary. We sing traditional hymns, pray, and learn together. God put the wiggle in children, don’t feel you have to suppress it in God’s house. A church full of wiggling children is a church full of life. We both treasure and encourage their presence. We provide worship bags with a variety of quiet activities to keep our youngest worshipers engaged during worship.

What is the community like?
East Parish UMC has been a continually worshipping community since the 1630's, established by the Church of England before the American Revolution. We are rich in history and rich in disciples of Christ. The church family looks out for each other and our community. The current church building was built in 1834 and is a landmark of Salisbury. We are traditional, in that there is an organ, hymns, and liturgy. We are casual in our informal announcements, frequent laughter, and come-as-you are spirit. We are a beach community, with many vacationing visitors. You will find people dressed in their Sunday best and others in casual clothing. Wear what you feel comfortable in. Our building is equipped with an elevator for access to all who wish to worship. There are accessible restrooms on the same floor as the sanctuary. Please contact the church office with any questions.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We welcome everyone at East Parish UMC, wherever you are on your faith journey, from wherever you have been. God's grace has no boundaries. Communion is typically celebrated the first Sunday of the month. In the United Methodist Church, we celebrate an open communion table, meaning all are invited to receive communion.

Milka Gonzalez
Pastor

I’m Pastor Milka Gonzalez. I was born in the Dominican Republic, and I am a naturalized U.S. citizen. I graduated with a bachelor degree in Business from Nichols College. At this moment, I’m in my second year of Master of Divinity studies at Boston University. Receiving Christ has been my greatest accomplishment in life. In Jesus I have found a friend, guide, love, hope, structure, and reconciliation with the Creator. Thus, what I have received by grace, by grace I share. In my journey as a Christian, I have served as an administrative leader, facilitator of Bible studies, and missionary, serving various churches, including Jesus Life Center in Worcester MA, and Oasis Ministry in Southbridge MA. I have also served on various boards and committees, and I have been trained as a spiritual director. If you need someone to listen to you with mercy, compassion, and love, I am here to serve you in the love of Jesus! In my leisure time, I find myself in nature, enjoying sports, movies, books and spending time with my family, friends, and enjoying food of course. I believe that life is good, short and beautiful. I’m married to Pastor Benjamin Daggett, and I have two young adult children Carlos and Karlene Suncar. I look forward to meeting you all, to hearing your stories, and to becoming part of the Salisbury community. Please feel free to call me or email me to sit for coffee or tea. Blessings, Pastor Milka Gonzalez [email protected] 508-615-8016
