What to Expect

What are services like?
Sunday worship services take place in our auditorium, where you can expect to experience singing, prayer, teaching, and the Lord’s Supper. Worship usually begins with a few announcements followed by a period of singing. Everyone is welcome to sing—the songs are led by one of several song leaders with words projected on a screen so that everyone can follow along. During the Lord’s Supper, we remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us and serve both bread and “fruit of the vine,” which several members will help pass around the auditorium. At this point, we will also take up an offering, where members are able to contribute to the church financially. Don’t worry—if you are visiting, you are not expected to give. On Sunday evenings, this will take place after worship in another room for those who were unable to participate in the morning. You can also expect to hear an engaging lesson from the Bible, our authority on all matters of God’s teaching. We think you will find these messages both challenging and uplifting. There is no dress code for our worship services or classes. You will see some members in suits, others in jeans, and many in between. Please feel comfortable coming as you are and participating as you are comfortable.

What is the community like?
East Brainerd is a multi-generational church of about 700 members, with places for anyone to get involved in service and worship to God. We have a vibrant children's and youth ministry, plus classes and small groups for adults of all ages and life stages. We hope that you will find us to be friendly and welcoming, and we encourage you to visit and connect with us.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We hope you will feel at home whether or not you have attended church before. We won't pressure you if you are visiting and just want to see what is going on. If you are interested, our elders and ministers would love to discuss what it means to be a Christian and how you can become part of the family at East Brainerd.
