About Us

A Community of Faith, Hope, and Love

Jesus said, "...on this rock I will build my church..." (Matthew 16:18) The church is the idea of Jesus. It is not intended to be an institution or an organization; the church is a community of faith, hope and love. We think that is something that everyone not only wants but needs.

As a community, we are a group of people who care for one another and belong to one another. God has never called to Himself a collection of individuals; throughout history He has always been building communities of faith, hope, and love, because we need Him and we need each other.

As a community of faith, we help each other answer the tough questions of life, questions like, "Who am I?" "What's my purpose?" "What is God really like?" and "Why do bad things happen?" Jesus Christ and His church are uniquely qualified to answer life's most basic questions. And as people of faith, we trust in Him in our daily living.

As a community of hope, we share life's happiness with each another and offer comfort and support in times of sorrow and disappointment. We all face difficulties—how much we need a word of hope in the midst of our troubles! And we also share the hope of the promise of God in the future—eternal life!

As a community of love, we worship together the God who has first loved us, and we demonstrate compassion and kindness to each other and to the larger community. We thus fulfill the main purpose for our lives according to Jesus: "The greatest commandment is this: 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind.' And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these two." (Mark 12:29-31) Part of being a community of love is sharing the good news of Jesus across the street and around the world.

Yes, it's true: Everyone needs to be a part of a community of faith, hope, and love. In short, everyone needs a church. At Clairmont Hills, we want to be that church for you if you are not already an active part of another local church.

Our Services

Sunday
11:00am
Many churches today focus on one age group or one type of person. We believe that God delights when believers of all ages and various cultures can come together in worship. As we seek to have true intergenerational worship, we do our best to offer something for everyone. While any one week may have more elements of one style than another, from week to week you will experience a balanced diet of many musical styles from “traditional” to “southern gospel” to “contemporary” at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church. Our worship is to let Him know how much He is worth to us! (Our worship time actually starts at 10:55.)
09:30am
We have Life Groups for people of every age. In these small groups, participants enjoy fellowship, studying the Bible, and ministering to the community and to each other.

What to Expect

What are services like?
While the worship experience can vary to some degree from week to week, you can expect... An encounter with God "Worship" comes from the word "worth." We gather to tell God how much He is worth! Our purpose, according to the Bible, is to "seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us" (Acts. 17.27). Our church will help you find God; you will discover the truth of the Bible: "He is not far from each one of us"! A warm, friendly environment where you will be welcomed People who worship with us invariably tell us how blessed they were to be spoken to by so many people. But we don’t want to simply be friendly; we want to be your friends! An intergenerational experience with people of all ages Many churches today focus on one age group or one type of person. We believe that God delights when believers of all ages can come together in worship. A concern for the heart The Bible says, “Man looks at outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” We want to be more like God! Whether you enjoy “dressing up” for church or would rather come in more casual attire, you will be welcomed and you will find there is no “dress code” at our church. We simply ask people to wear modest clothing of whatever style they prefer. A variety of musical styles As we seek to have true intergenerational worship, we want to offer something for every member of the family. While any one week may have more elements of one style than another, you will experience a balanced diet of many musical styles from traditional to contemporary at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church. A message from God’s word While in worship we express our love for God, we always want to hear a word from Him that will touch us where we live. Our pastor lets the Bible determine the message and the manner in which it is delivered each week rather than forcing his style on the Bible. Most often, you will be encouraged by a positive, helpful message that challenges you to godly living while offering mercy and grace in your need. We believe that practicing God’s word has the power to transform our lives in ways we can scarcely imagine! Quality childcare Our Life Groups (Bible study/Sunday School classes) for all ages meet at 9:30 on Sunday mornings; preschoolers can stay for an extended session of learning while older children, youth, and adults join together for worship.

What is the community like?
A majority of the membership of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church lives in the middle class neighborhoods within a five mile radius of our church facilities, which are located in northeast Atlanta (off I-85 and I-285), inside the perimeter, in what is known as the Toco Hills area. Nearby are Emory and the VA Hospital. We are located in north Decatur at the intersection of North Druid Hills and Clairmont Roads, both of which have exits off I-85.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We would love to have you check us out. Our people are friendly and caring, our services are easy to understand, and the biblical messages are practical for life. We think the message of Jesus is one that will truly be "good news" when you understand how it can transform life for the better!
