Who We Are
Our goal from the beginning was to be an intelligent, relevant, spiritual community - where disagreements are accepted and heard and discussed - but where we pay special attention to what God wants to say (in the Bible). We believe in the God of the Bible, who suffers for His people, and redeems us. We believe that the church is not a building, but the community (the family) of Jesus. We believe that Jesus is alive and actually works in this world - not as a pushy authoritarian dictator, but as gentle counselor - who deserves all our fear and respect, yet doesn't demand it - instead He wins us over by showing his wisdom and goodness little by little. For those of you who are more versed in church positions, we agree with the "Westminster Confession" as a system of beliefs summarizing the Bible's teaching. . . Also historic Creeds such as the Apostle's Creed. These things are not nearly as boring as they sound - but they're old and from a different culture, so they need a bit of explaining. But for new believers, we believe the Bible itself speaks loud and clear - when read thoughfully and rationally - with the help of the Holy Spirit teaching us to repent.
