The Rev Dr Lawrence J Zimmermann shared their experience Sep 2025

Many memories. I thank God for this congregation. It is where I was confirmed on May 17, 1959. Evangelical is a wonderful name that I remember. The “good news” church. And it was to me! The pastor at that time at Christ was Pastor Ernest Meyer, Jr. I recall how he taught us the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And after Confirmation when he had taught us the 10/Commandments and better yet the Gospel of z Christ and the forgiveness of sins. It was like a great weight lifted from my shoulders as I was going home that Christ had taken my sins away. I have many more memories of that church. From attending Sunday School, teaching Sunday school and attending Luther League meetings. Playing basketball ( and we were pretty good in those days). Bowling on the Lutheran league from Christ Lutheran. I have many memories of Christian love and many names I recall very fondly in regard to friendships and leaders. I thank God for them often. I met a wonderful gal named Beth who was a member of the LCMS. Just before returning from Vietnam War I had married her and also became a member of the LCMS. Went to college, decided to become a pastor in the Mo. Synod to bring the Gospel to others. Now I am 80, a retired pastor and my wife too is nearly 80, too. And just as beautiful as ever. She, too, has fond memories of Christ Lutheran and especially the night I bowled 263 in the bowling league. A miracle for sure. I remember you in my prayers often thanking God for that wonderful congregation for what you have meant to me. Ever since I was baptized in June 1945. May God continue to bless you and keep you in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. And big thank you to you all.
