Leadership

Jeff Wuertz
Senior Pastor

Pastor Jeff Wuertz started Chesapeake Community of Hope out of his home in July, 2004, with only his family. With his outgoing personality, warm and approachable style and relevant Bible teaching, he grew the church through personal evangelism and discipling. His desire is to see people grow in Christ, to flourish and become the best version of who God created them to be. Jeff is on a mission to reach the lost in his community through relational evangelism and practical service to those in need. He often reminds his congregation that “We are all on a spiritual journey–just at different places.” Having experienced the life-changing power of Jesus Christ in his own life, Pastor Jeff is passionate about showing others how they too can experience this same hope-filled transformation. An enthusiastic fisherman, Jeff has created a one of a kind children’s ministry that he calls “Fish Camp”. Every summer during the entire month of June, Pastor Jeff invites children and parents from the community to his lakeside home where he teaches them serious fishing skills as well as stories about the Master Fisherman, Jesus Christ. Chesapeake Community of Hope Church has become known in the community as the “fishing church”. Jeff received a B.B.A from the University of Iowa and a M.Div. from Concordia Lutheran Seminary, St. Louis. He completed a one year residency in Pastoral Care and Counseling, qualifying for chaplaincy ministry. He and his wife, Karen, have four children.
