Who We Are

A Beacon of Hope and Holiness

The Cape Elizabeth Church of the Nazarene is a beacon of hope and holiness to Greater Portland, by providing opportunities for worship, friendship, guidance, compassionate service, and sharing the Good News of Christ.

A small multi-generational church, we welcome people of all ages from across the Greater Portland area. Our "blended liturgical" style of worship combines the best of ancient Christian tradition with traditional hymns and modern praise and worship music.

What to Expect

What are services like?
"Come as you are" to our worship service. You will not find any sort of stuffiness or pretension, but a group of people who desire to faithfully follow God's call on their lives. You can expect some modern praise music, some traditional hymns, and a 25 minute message. We place a high value on the sacraments, so it's likely that we'll be celebrating Holy Communion. The Table is open for all who are faithfully and actively responding to God's grace at work in their lives.

What is the community like?
You will find our congregation to be warm and friendly. It is a multi-generational congregation with senior saints and young children. You'll find retired professionals and lobster-men and farmers. You'll find people from all across the educational and social spectrum, for we are all one in Christ together.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We'd love to have you come join us, and explore what it means to be a Christian. Christianity is not simply a list of dos and don'ts, neither is it a complex list of doctrinal affirmations. Rather, it is a journey with people who follow Jesus--the Son of God who died for us, conquering sin and death once and for all.
