Rev. Larry Homiitsky

The Rev. Larry Homitsky currently serves a cluster of United Methodist Churches and the United Methodist Church Union seeking to rebuild an urban ministry presence in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He previously served as the Director of Connectional Ministries in the Western PA Conference for 12 years. Prior to that appointment, he served various congregations in urban, rural, and suburban settings. Homitsky has been involved with the National U.M. Media Presence titled Igniting Ministry since its inception, serving collaboratively to test and design resources and television commercials. Since 2001, he has been integral to the training efforts of the ministry, personally training more than 18,000 people from 2,500 churches in every jurisdiction. After graduating from Thiel College Cum Laude with a BA in Religion and Drew Theological School Cum Laude with a Masters of Divinity, he received Elders Orders in June 1980. He has served as Senior Pastor to Dutilh United Methodist Church in Cranberry Twp, Community United Methodist Church in Harrison City and First United Methodist Church in Kittanning. The Rev. Homitsky was a member of the Conference Committee for Vital Congregations Faithful Disciples, where he served as chair of this conference emphasis on Church Growth and New Church Development. He was also chair for the Conference Board of Missions and District Director for our Missional Connections. Presently Larry has given energy to the national Igniting Ministry initiative, traveling around our conference and country sharing the Welcoming training related to TV, radio and other media ministries available today. Larry and his wife, Ellen, live on the Northside of Pittsburgh and are parents to Luke, Joy, Sarah, Nathan, and Anna. In his spare time, Larry enjoys traveling to churches to present a dramatic and informative presentation on the life and work of John and Charles Wesley.
