About Us

For us it's real simple... Every human being matters to God, therefore, they matter to us.

While some churches may be member-focused, we are mission-focused, and our mission is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We are constantly striving to create environments that draw people into an encouraging and intimate relationship with God.

We strive to be authentic, honest, and humble in our community of faith. We strive to be a place where both regularly churched people and those not currently attending church can connect with God in an engaging, relevant, and grace-filled environment. We are an informal church where there are no dress codes, phony pretensions, or perfect people. We are who we are and by God's grace, we are all on a journey toward becoming more like Christ.

We are real people, who deal with real life issues, in a real church environment. Here at BEACH, we seek to apply the unchanging truth of the Bible in an inspiring and challenging way that gives birth to life change in the hearts of each of us.

Leadership

Jerry Sweat

Jerry became the Senior Pastor at BEACH in 2002, returning to his hometown of Jacksonville, after leading churches in Tampa and South Florida. He and his wife, Denise, and children, Ryan, Ashley and Lindsey, have all served actively in the life of BEACH. Jerry’s passion is for leading those far from God into an active and productive walk of Faith in Jesus. Jerry is a graduate of Florida Southern University and holds his Masters in Divinity from The Candler School of Theology in Atlanta. He loves to teach and write about how to apply God’s Word in practical ways and hundred’s receive his “E-devo” online every morning. He’s a fitness ‘junky’ – jogging and working out most every day, and a sports hound, cheering for both the Seminoles and the Gators along with the Jaguars. His best free time is spent just hanging out with his family and close friends.

What Members Say

Brenda shared their experience Feb 2026

Too loud! Too repetitive. Thought the minister was good in the small part he played! Service too long. As a member of many churches over the years and attending many services, the funeral service I attended today was SHOCKING! The music was too loud and too repetitive and too long! I had a headache when it was finally over. Did love the speakers! Perhaps the family suggested it and planned it. I will attend the church again to determine if this is usual practice. I am 81 and husband 85. Maybe that is OUR problem but I did not feel the presence of Jesus or God there.
