What is the community like?
God’s assignment for us “Bring people to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and nurture them to be fully devoted to following him.” Matt. 28:18-20 UMC mission How we accomplish God’s assignment: Through small group life, we spur one another on to learn his disciplines, which inspire us to love God, each other & people around us (Hebrews 3:13): Prayer: We enjoy, listen & talk to God and DO his Word. Matt. 28:20 Presence: We worship God and rest weekly and keep short accounts in regular communion. Luke 10:27 Gifts: We consecrate all of the gifts God gives us, use our spiritual gifts and tithe and sacrifice to advance God’s kingdom. Service: We take a servant attitude, loving in practical ways, building unity and praying as the Holy Spirit leads. John 15:12 Witness: We seek salvation through Christ, water & Spirit baptism, heart obedience to God and a natural, caring witness to God’s love for all people. Matt. 28:19-20 Our authority The Bible is our highest authority on truth and living. Our calling Ames’ 130+ year calling has strong Wesleyan character history Practical & wholistic love for each other and community. “Heart for the city” The Bible & Holy Spirit guide all we do. “Eyes on the Lord” Beliefs Every believer has a chance to serve. Diversity We are humbled and grateful that God is making us diverse; more and more like heaven!

What if I'm not a Christian?
“Let everything that has breath praise the LORD!” Psalm 150:6 Come at 8:45 am if you love traditions & hymns with piano & organ. Come at 11:00 am if your preference is a contemporary band. Join a worship team Worship teams welcome new people who have the desire to use their gifts and talents to lead others into God’s presence; Children’s Choir – Early elementary children sing monthly in 8:45 am worship service. Gospel Choir – Any age welcome in this choir, which sings twice a month in both services, enriching us with gospel music, choruses & spirituals. Joy Bells – Learn to play bells in this choir, which plays monthly in the 8:45 am worship service. Girls & Women’s Dance – Dancers meet weekly to practice and study. Various Sundays throughout the year they will dance during the 11:00am worship service. The team is part of the Restored to Glory (RTG) School of Worship dance ministry out of Bay City. Occasionally they are invited to dance at other churches. They also participate RTG program usually held in May. Dancing is one component of worship offered as an expression of love for God and as an affront to the enemy. Solos & ensembles – Members contribute their music to our 8:45 am worship services regularly and weekly in the summer. Stone Road – The band leads 11:00 am worship all year and plays at special events and conferences.

Scott Lindenberg

Pastor Scott Lindenberg was born in Bay City, graduating from Asbury Theological Seminary and served 8 years at Wesley UMC in the Upper Peninsula before returning to Saginaw in 2014 as Ames’ senior pastor. Scott is married to his wife Jill and has three children Spencer (26) Parker (24) and Lauren (16). Scott’s passion for ministry is two-fold: to see people make the transition from being church members to becoming active disciples of Jesus, and to see the church bring the Kingdom of God to life in the surrounding community by reaching out in love to our neighbors. He has been busy here ever since.
