About Us

Where History & Tradition Serve to Proclaim God's Love in Jesus Today

Founded by German immigrants before the founding of our nation, Zion's Stone Church has its roots in both the Lutheran and the Reformed traditions of the Protestant reformation. Today we are a federated congregation affiliated with the United Church of Christ (UCC) AND the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Though continuing these mainline traditions, we are a church upholding a traditional understanding of the authority of God's Word in the Holy Scriptures.

What to Expect

What are services like?
We gather in a very traditional stone church building built in 1846 but we have video cameras & projection capability enabling us to project still photos, video clips, and liturgical texts and song lyrics as appropriate to the service or sermon. Most Sundays our worship style is traditional with hymns played on our pipe organ. Once Sunday a month (generally the 4th Sunday) we have a praise band up front leading worship with keyboard and guitars - same worship format, just different instrumentation and musical styles. Holy Communion is celebrated on the 1st Sunday each month and on major festival days

What is the community like?
Our congregation reflects the make up of our community which was, once upon a time, mostly farm families with roots going way, way, way back. While we still have a number of active farm families in the congregation, the community is changing and we have gotten new folks from other places in recent years, so we are a mixed group.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Everyone is always welcome to join us for worship. If you have little to no experience in the church our tradition and practice might take some getting used to but the message is intended to be clear and open to all. I think you will be warmly welcomed by our members
