    The family of long-time Church member Florence Simpson sadly report her passing. Florence L. Simpson (September 23, 1927 – February 19, 2021) Florence Lillian (Daddysman) Simpson, 93, died on February 19, 2021 at home in Hedgesville, WV, surrounded by her family. She was born September 23, 1927 in West Philadelphia, PA, daughter of James Hughes Daddysman and Olive Marguerite Mitchell, and grew up in Washington, DC. A graduate of Chamberlain Vocational School of Washington, DC, and married at the First Brethren Church of DC, she spent most of her years in Kentland, MD, then lived many happy years in retirement in Florence, SC. Her final months were spent with her daughter in WV. She is preceded in death by her husband James Owen Simpson Sr; siblings James Daddysman, Ruth Meneely, Edith Ganey; grandchildren Jeffrey Simpson, Brenda Simpson, Mark Pangle; Son-in-law Kip Pears. She is survived by her children, James Simpson Jr, Thomas Simpson (Cheryl), Lorena Jane Pears, Sheila Pangle (Donald); grandchildren Lisa Sipps (Aaron), Jessica Grubb (Kyle), Christopher Silva (Melissa), Philip Silva (Andrea), Angela Silva-Estep (Chris), Matthew Simpson; several great and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Florence was a long-time member of Eastminister Presbyterian Church in Bladensburg, MD, then Westminister Presbyterian Church in Florence, SC, and most recently attending Gerrardstown Presbyterian Church, WV. Her vocation, and passion, was “seamstress extraordinaire,” most recently providing sewing services for the Manor Home Retirement Community of Florence, and volunteered at nearby Carolinas Hospital Sr Circle “Hearts In Bloom” serving the sick & aging. She was community- and neighborhood-oriented, enjoyed the company of her family & neighbors, and was a member and videographer for the locally popular entertainment group “Prime Time Dancers” (aka “Granny Dancers”) of SC. A small semi-private service will be held in Martinsburg, WV; she will be interred at the Florence Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum in Florence, SC, alongside her husband James (no services). In lieu of flowers, any donations may be sent to Gerrardstown Presbyterian Church, WV. Those wishing to post comments on the funeral home website can access it at www.dignitymemorial.com.
