Who We Are

Washington Plaza Baptist Church is an inclusive Christian, multicultural church, with a growing group of young professionals, baby-boomers, and active 90-year old members.

Our open and accepting community worships, shares communion, and fellowships with grace and without restriction to gender, nationality, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. We invite you to meet us during our Sunday worship service at 11 am, followed by lunch together at noon! In all our humble diversity, we seek to love and respect each other, and we welcome anyone who walks through our doors.

Our Services

What are services like?
If you should decide to learn more about our church family, we’d invite you to worship with us on a Sunday morning. Our services begin at 11 am on the second floor of our building. Our dress is casual. You are always welcome to come as you are. Worship usually last about 60 minutes and will include time for song, scripture reading, sharing prayer requests and praying together, a Biblical based sermon and an opportunity to respond in commitment to God. The first Sunday of the month we celebrate communion together at the conclusion of the service and any faith seeker is welcomed to participate.

What is the community like?
WPBC seeks to be among the open-hearted and open-minded, freedom-loving Baptists. We affirm the competency of each individual to interpret Scripture as led by the Spirit of God and in the accountability of community. You will not be told what to believe here! Many of our members have come with no church background and have found a home. You should feel right at home whether you have a deep faith in Christ or simply don’t know. We provide a questioner, seeker, or doubter a free environment for search and study, and welcome them with acceptance and love. We invite you to check it out for yourself. We desire a congregation whose climate will assist fully committed Christians in the deepest possible expression of their faith. We set forth the vision of a spiritual life that balances contemplation and action, that encourages a deep internal relationship with God and that lives out that relationship in a life of mercy and justice supported in community.
