About Us
Unity Lutheran Church of Berwyn is a Reconciling in Christ Congregation, open to people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. We are a vibrant and loving community, eager to make a difference in our community.
At Unity Lutheran Church we seek to ground ourselves in faith and love by listening for the Word of God in our own lives, through our worship life, in Bible Study, and in the community. We discover God’s word alive through the gifts present within our congregation and the larger community. We know that we bring God’s Word to life by being good stewards of these gifts, tending to them and nourishing them both within ourselves and the larger community.
It is our call to embrace the community and the world by being responsive to the joy and brokenness within this congregation, the surrounding community, and the world.
Our hope is to move ever toward God’s mission through the vision we have discerned for ourselves. God has not called us to the work of maintaining institutions, but to the transformation of lives. Therefore, we constantly ask how our work serves to lead us toward God’s reign of love and forgiveness.

Leadership
Julie Boleyn
Pastor Julie Boleyn was ordained and called to serve as pastor Unity Lutheran Church of Berwyn in January, 2012. Prior to receiving the call at Unity, Julie worked as the Vision Catalyst at Resurrection Lutheran Church. Pastor Julie also coordinates the Stewards of Abundance program at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, engaging students in creative and innovative discussions about their theology of stewardship and their lived experience. She also serves on the board of Extraordinary Lutheran Ministries. ELM works for the full participation of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities in the life and ministry of the Lutheran church. Pastor Julie graduated with a BA from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash., and received an MDiv from LSTC in 2010. She has previously worked in fundraising, and software development.Location & Directions
