To ignite the Spirit of Christ in all, by encouraging a personal relationship with Him and by empowering all to serve, lead, and teach through modeling Christ.
The Reverend Christopher L. Miller (Chris) was ordained a Deacon in 1996 and Elder in 1998 and has served as the sole pastor for Port Norris and Buckshutem United Methodist Churches (1995-2000), First United Methodist Church of Pemberton (2000-2002), and First United Methodist Church of Delran (2005-2016). Chris was appointed as the Annual Conference Disaster Response Coordinator (DRC) in 2015. As the DRC, he is responsible for the planning, preparation, mitigation, training and response for natural and human caused disasters that impact our Annual Conference. As the DRC, Chris also represents the Annual Conference as a member of the N.J. Volunteers Active in Disaster (V0AD). As a member of NJVOAD, Chris sits on the Case Management subcommittee.
Chris is also a retired Lieutenant Colonel, USAF Chaplain’s Corps.
When thinking about his role as Pastor, Chris believes that it is to faithfully serve the church in the key areas of word, order, sacrament, and pastoral care while equipping, encouraging, and empowering the members of the church to faithfully serve their community and the world as disciples of Jesus Christ called into ministry through baptism. Chris has a passion for outreach ministry seeking to make a difference in the lives of people for whom Jesus died.
