The Well by the Sea

About Us

Drink Deep and Be Filled : A Non-traditional Church in Anglican Tradition

We are a mission of the Protestant Episcopal Diocese of SC, traditional in our theology and contemporary in our worship, as evidenced by our mission statement:
"To lead families and individuals into the love and abundant life found in Jesus Christ"

and our vision statement:
“To be an Anglican Church in which the Bible and complete gospel are taught unapologetically, the lost are led to Jesus, the believers brought to maturity, families nourished, the sick healed and the gospel shared outside the walls of the church.”

The Well by the Sea was founded as a mission initiative of the Episcopal Church in January of 2009, and became a mission of the Protestant Episcopal Diocese of SC in March of 2012.

Our Services

Sunday
10:30am
We meet every Sunday morning and worship from 10:30 to 12:00, followed by a fellowship lunch. All are invited to attend.
05:30pm

What to Expect

What are services like?
Our services are relaxed. Fr. Tom, if at all possible, wears his faithful flip-flops and we are all in casual attire. We sing contemporary songs of praise and worship before we move to the "reasoning" (sermon). Fr. Tom prefers "reasoning" because we are all invited to participate with questions and commentary. After the reasoning each Sunday, we have communion, the only act of worship Jesus actually commanded us to observe. In traditional fashion we take communion at the altar rail and ALL baptized Christians are invited to share in communion regardless of denomination. Those who are not baptized may come forward and receive a blessing if they wish.

What is the community like?
Our congregation is a devoted, real and loving community centered around living our lives guided by Christ and the life-principles he teaches us everyday. We welcome newcomers to join us and become a part of a greater family.

What if I'm not a Christian?
If you are not a Christian, you are welcome all the more! God does not shy away from our questions or doubts. He welcomes the opportunity to respond to those whom He has created. We are all on the journey of life together and the message of Jesus is lived out best when we help each other along the way. Through the good, the bad, the uncertainty and the times of celebration.

I really enjoy the family feeling at the well. The music is contemporary. It is easy to feel the Holy Spirit among us there. May God continue to Bless the Well by the Sea.
